My love of animals is something I was born with and wasn't inherited by brothers or sisters, animals have always played a major part in my life. My very first dog was a Collie named Beau, who had more titles to his name than you could poke a stick at. How did I get Beau, well Beau was a show dog that was left in his owners car on a hot day and his nose was burnt really badly. So much that he couldn't be shown again and they were going to have him put down .So you guessed it Beau came to live at home with me until the day he passed on to the rainbow bridge in the Sky. My next dog was my beautiful Old English Sheepdog Warrick a dog that could do no wrong and was loved by everyone that met him. If a dog could be born a gentleman then he was a true gentleman and I'm sure this boy will be waiting at the rainbow bridge for me when my time come's.In 1990 I brought the my first weimaraner a dashing young male that I called William. William was as brave as a hundred Indians when he thought I was being threatened and could be as gentle as a lamb around babies when William passed away at the age of eight I thought a part of me had left with him but it was only the beginning of my journey as my very next dog was my foundation bitch here at Silverodhar my best friend CH Bromhund Tiffini Brushed (Chloe)
Starting of with only 120 acres seventeen years ago after making alife style change .Our aim was to make our small farm profitable, after many discucussions and lots of research we chose Highland Cattle over the more mainstream breeds. We saw the niche side of the Highland cattle as being our Cash Cow.
Our move to our Red Angus came in 1999 when we purchased our first females. We chose Red Angus over the other more mainstream breeds as their temperament ,calving ease and color complemented our Highlands
Weimaraners have also always played a big part in our lives with our biggest thrill being given at the weimaraner Nationals in 2005 where our home bred boy Silverodhar Boy NDoubt was awarded Best Dog In show over 234 other weimaraners . This award is really an honor as the show is only held once every five years and every dog is graded by the judge who is from Overseas.
Our approach to raising beef cattle may be different to conventional farmers but we must be doing something right as we now have over 80 loyal Clients and our numbers seem to be growing. Additional sales are gained from Hides and horns plus by showcasing our products at numerous expos and shows, sales of live animals to other breeders and the home freezer trade of our quality home grown grassfed Highland & Red Angus beef has also helped to grow our business. Our cattle nembers have grown and the farm size has doubled and we are now looking to expand again.
